Privacy Policy

Peak Events is committed to protecting the privacy of our customer’s personal information. Consequently, we have developed policies and procedures to ensure our compliance with privacy legislation currently in force in Malawi. The purpose of this privacy policy is to outline the steps we take to keep your personal information confidential, to inform you about the way we collect, use, and disclose your personal information, and to provide you with Peak Events contact information should you have questions or concerns about our personal information protection practices.

 

 

What information does Peak Events collect?

 

Peak Events maintains a detailed record of the payments that you have made with our company. Should you shop with Peak Events either in-store or on-line, we will store any information that you provide to us that will be relevant to supporting your event rental needs including your personal contact information. Peak Events will only collect personal information that you have voluntarily provided to us. We may also collect personal information from you when you make on-line payments including your name, e-mail and postal addresses, phone number(s), encrypted credit card information and product interest information.

 

Additionally, Peak Events may collect information about your device and geolocation when you interact with our digital properties or systems. This is done by logging information provided by your device when you connect to our website, or to a Wi-Fi portal at our office location, such as the OS, device type, screen resolution, IP address and MAC address. This information is used by Peak Events to help improve our digital services, to better understand the demographics of our customers, and to improve the way we design, stock and staff our office and store.

 

 

Why does Peak Events collect your personal information?

 

  • To ensure that your event rental needs are looked after. Following your in-store payment, a Peak Events employee may contact you to liaise with you on your event rental needs and/or following the sale to ensure that you are satisfied with the products you have paid for. Select in-store customers who choose to additionally shop on-line will also be contacted after item delivery to ensure that payments meet expectations.

  • To improve service delivery. By maintaining detailed records of your previous payments, and by recording lifestyle information about you such as the kind of work you do, your travel habits etc., we gain a better understanding of your personal preferences and are better able to personalize your shopping experience each time you visit or contact our office or Event Coordinators and Event Officers. Similarly, it allows us to guide potential gift givers in the right direction in terms of your event rental preferences. Please know however that we will not disclose any specific personal information including information about your personal payment history to a potential gift giver or any third party without your consent.

  • To process your on-line orders and to answer questions regarding the status of such orders.

  • To provide you with relevant marketing communications and advertising.

  • To keep you informed about our events and promotional opportunities. Your Event Coordinator and Event Officer and/or our marketing department will also contact you via telephone, e-mail or regular mail to keep you informed about event rental and event management information, new and exciting products available in our store or on-line, company and store special events, sales and other event rental and event management issues that may be of interest to you.

  • During a visit to our Peak Events office, you may be asked for your personal contact information or other lifestyle information pertinent to your shopping preferences and habits. This information may be keyed into our customer database and is stored with your payment history information.

 

 

The Disclosure of Personal Information

 

Peak Events will not sell or disclose to third parties any personal information we collect, except as described herein or as you otherwise consent. In the normal course of business Peak Events may disclose some information with our service providers and suppliers, such as home address information to our mailing house or third-party systems support specialists who are contracted to keep our systems operational. Each of our service providers and suppliers are contractually bound to protect the confidentiality of our customer information and may only use such information for the purposes of performing services on our behalf. You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us in the manner set out below.

 

In addition, only when required by law, we must provide your personal information in response to a search warrant or other legally valid enquiry or order, or to an investigative body in the case of a breach of an agreement or contravention of law, or as otherwise required by law. We may also disclose personal information to assist us in collecting a debt owed by you to Peak Events.

 

 

What are cookies? How does Peak Events use cookies on its site?

 

We may use “cookies” to track your preferences and activities on the peakeventsmw.com website. Cookies are small data files transferred to your computer’s hard drive by a website. They keep a record of your preferences making your subsequent visits to the site more efficient. Are there cameras in place at our office? If so, how are they used?

 

For security, safety, and liability purposes we use CCTV cameras at our office location. Information recorded by such cameras is retained for a short period unless needed in connection with an investigation. Notices advising of the use of such cameras will be posted at our office. By visiting our office, you will consent to our use of such cameras and the recording of your information. Video evidence will only be provided to the authorities when a criminal offense has been committed or we have reasonable grounds to believe a crime has been committed.

Peak Events is committed to ensuring that your personal information is kept secure. Peak Events keeps the personal information we collect about you strictly confidential. We use administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect against unauthorized disclosure, use, alteration and destruction of the personal information we have about you. Access to your personal information Peak Events representatives and associates is strictly limited to a need-to-know basis. Peak Events associates receive special training regarding privacy protection and are made aware of the importance of maintaining the confidentiality of personal information. All computers on which personal information is stored are password protected.

 

Peak Events will keep your personal information only for as long as it remains necessary or relevant for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy or as required by law.

 

The protection of your personal information is of the utmost concern. Peak Events encourages you to review our Privacy Policy on a periodic basis. This Privacy Policy may be updated from time-to-time. If at any point we decide to use personal information in a manner different from that stated at the time it was collected, users will have a choice as to whether we use their information in this different manner. Whenever we update this Privacy Policy statement, we will change the date on the statement below to indicate that revisions were made.
